WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Online Course and Examination at TEXSOM

 

Course Duration: 5 weeks online, starting on Monday July 20, 2026, and ending on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Exam: Sunday, August 23, 2026 between 12:00pm-1:00pm at TEXSOM Conference (500 W Las Colinas Blvd, Irving, TX 75039)
Course, Exam and Materials Fee: $595 plus shipping and tax.
Bonus Tasting: Join a tasting and review session lead by Dilek Caner, Master of Wine prior to the exam between 10:00am – 12:00pm.

Topics

  • Week 1: Introduction to Wine Tasting, Pairing, Storage & Service
    Learn to taste and describe wines using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting. Discover the key considerations when pairing food and wine successfully. Learn the processes and principles of wine storage and service.
  • Week 2: Factors Influencing Style, Quality & Price
    Study the factors influencing the style, quality and price of wine in the vineyard and winery. Discover how to decode and understand labels.
  • Week 3: White Grape Varieties
    Learn about the characteristics and styles of wines produced from the main white grape varieties and the regions producing them.
  • Week 4: Black Grape Varieties
    Learn about the characteristics and styles of wines produced from the main black grape varieties and the regions producing them.
  • Week 5: Sparkling, Sweet and Fortified Wines
    Learn about the various methods for making Sparkling, Sweet and Fortified Wine, the resulting wine styles and the regions producing them.

How the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Online Course is conducted

  • The course itself is conducted online.
  • It is a 5-week structured online learning program. You can communicate with your instructor and classmates on an online platform during this 5-week window. Even after your course end date, you can access the course material for 1 year from your date of registration.
  • You can contact your online educator at any time during your scheduled course dates using the online platform.
  • The course modules should be followed in order, but you are free to complete the modules at your own pace. There are no set times to log into the course.
  • During the course, you participate in student activities including weekly tasks, group tasting area, multiple choice feedback tests and videos. Each week includes a series of independent and/or group activities to help you understand wine label terminology and recognize the styles produced by the main grape varieties in key wine regions.
  • You will be advised but not required to buy and taste certain wines on your own. You can post your tasting notes in the Online Classroom for review by the educator.

The cost of WSET Level 2 Award in Wines Online Course and Exam

The course fee of $595 includes:

  • online course access for 1 year from the date you receive your login credentials
  • WSET Level 2 Award in Wines study pack
  • WSET Level 2 Award in Wines (in-person) Exam in Irving, TX

Wine is not provided in the online course, however, a comprehensive selection of wines will be tasted during Dilek Caner MW’s tasting session prior to the exam at TEXSOM on August 23rd.

If you select the "Printed study materials" option, we will send you a hard copy of the study materials. If you choose the "Online access" option, you will not receive a printed version of the study materials but you will have online access to all study materials for one year. Please keep in mind the digital version is an eBook and is not printable.

There are no refunds for WSET Online Courses. However, you may change your registered exam date by contacting us in writing at admin@dallaswinecenter.com at least 23 days prior to your scheduled exam date for online exams and 16 days prior to your scheduled exam date for the in-person exams. If you are late for your exam change request or if you are not present on your scheduled exam date, a new exam fee of $135 + tax for an in-person exam or $165 + tax for an online exam will apply.

Fees and requirements for Level 2 Exam re-take on a date where an exam is already scheduled

Postponement Period: Students must give notice of postponement before exams are ordered in order to reschedule without a new exam fee. If given appropriate advance notice, the first postponement is free. If given appropriate advance notice, additional postponements within 12 months of the start of the course will be subject to a $20 administrative fee per postponement request. Postponement after 12 months from the start of the course is subject to a new exam fee.

Reschedule/Resit In-Person exam: $135.00 plus tax, at least 15 days prior to new exam date

Reschedule/Resit Online exam: $165.00 plus tax, at least 23 days prior to new exam date

Private Exam: Proctor fees in addition to exam fees apply. Send an email to admin@dallaswinecenter.com to schedule a private exam and inquire about the related exam fees.
