WSET Level 3 Award in Wines Guided Study Program – For Wine Industry Only

This version of the course is for specifically invited wine industry members only. To be able to register for this version you must have an invitation from Dallas Wine Center or another organization authorized by Dallas Wine Center. Uninvited registrations will be refunded (in-full, including shipping) and canceled as soon as they are noted.

This is a guided study program for WSET Level 3 Award in Wines Examination. It contains weekly reading and study assignments followed by a weekly meeting where your instructor reviews the reading material and answers any questions you may have. Following this, there is a tutored tasting of 6 wines and a practice session on short answer questions that are part of the WSET Level 3 Exam.

The students are expected to complete the reading and study assignments for each week before coming to the review session. This is a course that requires intense study by the student and is recommended only for students who have either received “Distinction” in their WSET Level 2 Exams, or for students who already have a breadth of knowledge of the world’s wine regions.

When considering the WSET Level 3 Wine Course, most students are concerned about the blind tasting part of the exam, however, the pass rate for the tasting exam is quite high and if a student follows the tasting format taught by their WSET instructor, the probability of failure is quite low.

Usually, students find the Short Answer Question part of the WSET Level 3 Exam to be the most challenging. These questions are not particularly difficult but they require a thorough analysis and a very clear expression.

During this program you will need to make sure you will study the factual information such as the following by yourself:

  • wine laws
  • region names and their associated grape varieties, climatic conditions and all other relevant facts about the regions and grapes

You will be required to complete:

  • all reading assignments prior to coming to a session
  • exercises assigned as short answer questions

You will have guidance with:

  • tastings
  • quizzes that will test you on the information you’ve been learning through self-study
  • tasting exam strategy
  • short answer exam strategy
  • short answer questions which will be analyzed and solved during the sessions.

This is a great class to take only if you can allocate a lot of time for study so that you are comfortable with all the region and grape names during sessions. That knowledge allows you to use it as a base in analyzing and answering the more detailed questions.

Once you register for this program, your WSET Level 3 study pack will be sent to you via FedEx and you can start studying on the first reading assignment.

Please see the session plans below for the upcoming March program.

The address for these sessions is: Roots and Water, 2200 Vantage St, Dallas, TX 75207

The cost is $500 (for invited wine industry members only) which has been deeply discounted from the price of the standard WSET Level 3 Course ($1,350).

If you’d like to register and pay, please fill out and submit the form which is below the session plans.
